Pay Details

  • Apprentice 1st year $26.92
  • 2nd year  $31.42
  • 3rd year  $35.91
  • 4th year $40.39
  • Licensed Mechanic $44.88
  • $2.00/hr weekend premium
  • $2.00/hr afternoon premium
  • $2.00/hr lead hand premium
  • $1.50/hr CVIP premium
  • $.75/hr M5/B620 premium

Schedule

  • Afternoon shift 1:30 PM – 11:30PM
  • Compressed week- 4 10 hour days on, and 3 days off
  • May have to work one weekend day
  • Facility is open 7 days a week
  • Training schedule M-F mornings

Job Details

  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on diesel "heavy-duty" trucks primarily, may also work on chemical trailers, including chemical tankers and dry bulk units
  • Diesel work duties typically include all aspects of truck repair other than bodywork, to include computer diagnostics on engine/transmission/chassis, emissions system repairs, transmission/clutch/linkage; electrical; starting systems; engine PM; A/C; and other typical truck repairs
  • Trailer repair duties typically include checking running gear including brakes, tires/wheels, air systems, suspension, electrical systems, and lights
  • Able to change/fix tires and wheels

Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance on the truck, but must be open to work on trailers as well.
  • Preventative maintenance on checking tires, wheels, brakes, air systems, clutch/linkage, starting system, electrical system, PM's, electrical work, brakes, suspension and product pump rebuilds.
  • Follow safety and use of proper PPE.
  • Follow policies and procedures.
  • Work safely, using directed PPE.
  • Complete tasks in a timely fashion as to the Standard Repair Time Guidelines.
  • Maintain fleet equipment.
  • Drive and Shunt equipment

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Red Seal is an asset.
  • CVIP Certification is an asset.
  • Two years verifiable mechanic experience.
  • Operation of hand and air tools.
  • Previous experience with all types and makes of tractors and trailers heavy-duty diesel trucks
  • May work above shoulder level with power and /or hand tools weighing 15 pounds or less and in confined spaces
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position and have mobility, vision, hearing, and sense of smell and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed.
  • May stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift and carry items weighing 50 lbs or less
  • Positive work ethic, attitude, and job performance.
  • Must be willing and able to work at heights up to 15 feet
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
