US Claims Manager

Hybrid and travel monthly

• Extensive technical knowledge of general liability and auto liability insurance, subrogation process and pre-litigation protocols
• Extensive knowledge of insurance principles and practices
• A solid understanding of insurance terminology, insurance policy terms and conditions and claim management vernacular
• Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience and expertise in adjusting claims for an employer who has a sizeable self-retained amount.
• Able to communicate effectively both written and verbally, in clear concise language with internal stakeholders, external claimants, loss adjustors, service vendors, legal counsel etc. Internal communication must be effective to both field-level personnel as well as senior management.
• Self-starter and ability to manage a significant case load of claims, independently and with minimum oversight.
• Effective time-management, organization, and critical thinking skills will be necessary
• Literacy in the Microsoft suite of platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Ability to learn and work within other necessary IT platforms as required.

• Managing and engage regularly with a team of external claims adjusters to ensure high-performance standards and efficient claims processing.
• Execute and develop enhancements to Trimac’s claims processing procedures and guidelines, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, insurer requirements and company policies.
• Review and assess complex claims, providing reserve evaluations, guidance and assistance to claims adjusters and defence counsel when necessary.
• Hire, engage and manage third party service providers including but not limited to on-site adjusters, environmental remediation vendors, tow companies, reconstruction engineers, defence counsel etc. as necessary.
• Prepare and coordinate defence material for active claims.
• Attend mediation or pre-litigation proceeding and act as Trimac’s representative where required.
• Monitor and report on claims department performance, including productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, safety, commercial sales and finance, to streamline processes and enhance customer experience and claim resolutions.
• Advise internal stakeholders on a timely basis on expectations surrounding particular claims and projected outcomes.
• Investigate, negotiate settlement and recovery and resolve escalated claims issues and disputes in a timely and fair manner.
• Maintain control over expense costs through detailed data and cost capturing.
• Conduct regular training and development programs for claims, operations, and safety staff to keep them informed about industry changes and best practices.
• Maintain records and documentation related to claims processing and ensure data accuracy.
• Implement quality control measures to reduce errors and improve claims accuracy.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in claims management.
• Other claims duties as may be assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Licensed adjustor – able to adjust and/or mediate claims in any US state.
• Proven experience in claims management and litigation in Transportation with a strong understanding of 3rd party claims and insurance claims processing.
• Familiarity in auto legislation throughout the US
