This role offers an opportunity to shape the future of safety in North America’s bulk trucking industry while driving meaningful impact through innovation, industry collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to operational excellence.

 

The Vice President, Safety will interact with the Trimac Board, executives, cross-functional teams, external agencies, and industry stakeholders to ensure the company remains at the forefront of safety leadership in the North American bulk trucking industry.

Who You Are

  • Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Ability to synthesize complex safety data into actionable strategies that drive performance improvements.
  • Leadership & Influence: Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and engaging with executive leadership to drive culture change.
  • Industry & Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of trucking safety, DOT and OSHA regulations, and emerging trends in safety innovation.
  • Relationship Building & Advocacy: Strong external network within industry associations, regulatory agencies, and safety organizations.
  • Technology & Data Proficiency: Experience leveraging safety technology, AI, and analytics to enhance risk management and decision-making.
  • Crisis Management & Communication: Ability to effectively manage high-pressure situations with strong media and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Strategic Safety Leadership: Design, implement, and communicate a forward-thinking safety strategy aligned with industry advancements and regulatory changes.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize predictive analytics, benchmarking, and risk assessments to enhance safety performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Industry Collaboration: Strengthen relationships with regulatory bodies, industry associations, technology partners, and suppliers to shape industry standards and advocate for safety advancements.
  • Innovation & Technology Integration: Partner with OEMs and technology providers to assess and implement next-generation safety technologies, such as telematics, AI-driven monitoring, and autonomous vehicle innovations.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Leadership: Monitor legislative and regulatory trends to ensure Trimac remains compliant while influencing future safety regulations through industry engagement.
  • Crisis Management & Communication: Serve as a key spokesperson in safety-related crises, ensuring transparent, timely, and effective communication with stakeholders, including media, regulators, and the public.
  • Benchmarking & Best Practices: Conduct competitive analysis and implement best-in-class safety initiatives to maintain Trimac’s leadership position in the industry.
  • Training & Workforce Engagement: Develop and implement training programs to equip employees with the latest safety knowledge and encourage proactive hazard identification and reporting.
  • Investment & Business Case Development: Identify, advocate for, and implement high-impact safety investments that enhance operational efficiency and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree Preferred (business, Supply Chain, Safety, or related field)
  • 10+ years of Executive Leadership Experience in transportation safety, regulatory compliance, or operational risk management.
  • Proven track record of driving change through data, technology, and industry engagement.
