Schedule

• Full-time, 40-hour work week (Monday to Friday).
• Hybrid work model – minimum of 3 days/week onsite at our Calgary Head Office:
700-II, 326 11 Ave SW, Calgary, AB.
• On-call support will required as part of a rotational schedule

Job Details

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing IT team. This role will focus on the administration, maintenance, and performance of our SQL Server databases and support other platforms such as Snowflake, MySQL and MongoDB. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with solid experience in database environments and a strong foundation in SQL Server technologies, particularly SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Support backup and recovery procedures, database replication, and access management.
  • Assist in the implementation of database strategies to support resilient and efficient operations.
  • Perform regular performance tuning and troubleshooting to resolve issues proactively.
  • Support SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS environments for data integration and reporting tasks.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and analytics teams to meet data needs.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and best practices.
  • Participate in projects related to database upgrades, migrations, and cloud adoption.
  • Contribute to the maturation of data administration practices in the AWS cloud environments
  • Stay informed on industry trends and database technology developments.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator in a SQL Server environment.
  • Solid experience with SQL Server, including performance tuning and backup/recovery.
  • Hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
  • Familiarity with database replication techniques.
  • Experience with Snowflake, MongoDB, and MySQL is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based database solutions (AWS preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Microsoft or AWS database certifications are considered a plus.
