Job Details

Reporting to Vice President Corporate Development, this position plays a pivotal role in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic growth opportunities that align with our long-term objectives.

 

As Sr Manager, Acquisitions & Business Development to lead initiatives that drive expansion and enhance our market position. This role will focus on corporate development initiatives that focus on growth through acquisition, aligned with Trimac’s overall strategy.

  • Experience with, interpreting, and implementing contracts; and negotiating agreements with counterparties
  • Demonstrated business/ financial acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to critically analyze solutions for optimal outcomes.
  • Self-motivated with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • High degree of empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and evaluating potential acquisition targets and partnership opportunities.
  • Conducting market research and strategic fit to support investment decisions.
  • Leading due diligence processes and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Developing business cases and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Responsible for the development of an acquisition pipeline including pro-active sourcing, negotiation of initial non-binding terms with prospective targets, negotiating final terms on smaller deals, and providing support in the negotiation of final terms on larger deals.
  • Negotiating terms and structuring deals in collaboration with legal and financial advisors.
  • Working with integration team to prepare sellers for the post-close period.
  • Monitoring industry trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic planning.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including potential partners and industry contacts.
  • Expected to lead initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • High sense of initiative proactively identifies and pursues growth opportunities.
  • High Impact of errors: decisions can significantly affect company growth and financial performance.
  • Frequent interaction with internal departments, executive leadership, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in business development, M&A, or strategic planning.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading acquisition and partnership initiatives.
  • Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional communication abilities.
