Beyond operational excellence, this leader will lead a team that modernizes people systems, establish strong data governance, and build processes that produce advanced analytics capabilities that enable workforce planning, labor cost optimization, compliance, and executive decision-making. The role is a key connector between People & Culture, Finance, Operations, and IT, ensuring people data is trusted, scalable, and positioned to support the organization’s future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of employee data across the full employee lifecycle, including hires, internal movements, role changes, and exits.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the HRIS ecosystem (and integrated tools), including data architecture, security, access controls, and audit readiness.
  • Establish and maintain a robust position management and position control framework that supports organizational design and cost management.
  • Lead vendor relationships and partner with IT on integrations, upgrades, releases, and roadmap planning.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, privacy, payroll, DOT, and government regulations across Canada and the U.S.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of analysts, systems specialists, and senior coordinators.
  • Define clear operating rhythms, service standards, and career pathways to support scalability and succession planning.
  • Establish a trusted source of people data and reporting for leaders across the organization.
  • Deliver standardized dashboards and executive-ready insights on workforce trends, labor costs, headcount, turnover, compliance, and productivity.
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities through data analysis and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to align people data with financial and operational metrics.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year people analytics roadmap, including predictive analytics and scenario modeling as capabilities mature.
  • Drive process automation and simplification across onboarding, employee changes, reporting, and approvals.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (including AI-enabled analytics, workflow automation, and self-service tools) to improve efficiency and insight.
  • Lead large-scale system initiatives such as mass data updates, reorganizations, and M&A integrations.
  • Establish strong data governance practices, including data standards, definitions, documentation, and controls.
  • Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for people systems, data, and analytics.
  • Partner closely with People & Culture leadership to support talent strategy, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Influence senior leaders through clear storytelling, insights, and recommendations grounded in data.
  • Support enterprise-level decision-making by ensuring people data is accurate, timely, and decision-ready.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in people systems, HR analytics, workforce planning, or business intelligence, including at least 5 years in a people leadership role.
  • Experience leading teams through transformation, scaling operations, or modernization initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in enterprise HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., UKG Pro, Workday, Dauforce, ADP, Oracle) and BI/analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional systems, data, and change management initiatives.
  • Industry experience in transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other complex, regulated environments strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with comfort operating at the executive level.
