Summer Student Opportunities begin in May 2026 and end in August 2026.

The Operations Intern will support Trimac’s Operations team with a focus on advancing operational excellence across our network. This role will partner with leaders across field operations, safety, maintenance, and support functions to identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and data-driven decision-making.

This is a high-impact opportunity designed for a student who is interested in how large-scale transportation operations function and how continuous improvement initiatives can enhance performance, safety, and customer experience.

This opportunity is ideal for a student pursuing post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field who is seeking hands-on experience in a fast-paced, operational environment.

• Collaborate with Operations leaders and cross-functional teams across Trimac’s regions
• Support operational excellence initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, cost control, and service performance
• Assist in analyzing operational data, KPIs, and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Help develop dashboards, reports, and presentations for leadership review
• Participate in process mapping and workflow documentation to support continuous improvement efforts
• Contribute to root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives
• Support implementation tracking for operational projects and action plans
• Assist with technology or systems-related improvements impacting operations
• Contribute to special projects aligned with strategic operational priorities

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify insights
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Excel required; Power BI or data tools an asset)
• Ability to understand and document processes clearly and effectively
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with operational leaders
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a dynamic environment

Program Eligibility

• Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and available from May to August
• Returning to school following the summer term
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Citizen, PR, or valid work permit)
