Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with the potential for overtime based on business and operational needs.

 

Job Details

Trimac Transportation is a North American leader with over 80 years of history, focused on safety, operational excellence, and innovation. As we evolve in a data-driven and environmentally conscious industry, we are seeking a strategic and collaborative Director to lead our National Tank Services (NTS) operations. 

 

Reporting to the Sr Director, NTS, this role is accountable for the performance and strategic direction of tank wash and fleet maintenance operations across a designated region or the broader network. The Director will lead multi-site operational teams, oversee compliance, optimize asset performance, and ensure a strong alignment with safety, environmental, and customer service standards. 

Who You Are

  • Deep understanding of tank wash operations, industrial cleaning, fleet maintenance, and compliance standards. 
  • Demonstrated success in leading large, multi-site teams and driving cross-functional initiatives. 
  • Strong analytical, financial, and operational management skills. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement abilities. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operations/maintenance systems. 
  • Strategic thinker with change management expertise and a bias for action. 

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Oversight 

  • Provide strategic direction for NTS operations across tank wash and shop locations, aligning with company goals for safety, efficiency, and growth. 
  • Lead planning and execution of both routine and long-term maintenance, repair, and wash operations. 
  • Oversee capital investments for infrastructure, systems, and equipment upgrades. 

 

Operational Excellence 

  • Ensure alignment of SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance across all locations (e.g., B620, HM183, environmental regulations, confined space procedures). 
  • Monitor and improve productivity, repair quality, tank wash efficiency, and customer service metrics through data-driven KPIs and dashboards. 
  • Maintain strict adherence to environmental and chemical handling regulations. 
  • Lead process standardization across repair and wash facilities to drive consistency and best practices. 

 

Financial & Business Management 

  • Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for shop and wash operations. 
  • Review and control large repair estimates and track budget-to-actual maintenance variance. 
  • Oversee revenue reporting, productivity metrics, and cost forecasting across NTS sites. 
  • Drive ROI-based decision making for facility and equipment investments. 

 

People & Performance 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Area and Facility managers and supervisors with a focus on talent retention and succession planning. 
  • Conduct performance and compensation reviews of direct reports. 
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Support organizational change and innovation by proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks and opportunities. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner closely with internal departments including Fleet, Compliance, Safety, Operations, and Sales. 
  • Manage senior-level relationships with vendors, customers, regulatory bodies, and external service partners. 
  • Support business development, site integration, and acquisition activities related to shop & wash. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field requiredMaster’s degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in maintenance services, industrial operations, or tank wash environments. 
  • Minimum 5 years of senior leadership responsibility, including oversight of P&L, budgets, and compliance. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with DOT, environmental, and industry-specific regulatory frameworks.
